HI, I’M SID!

When we were first married and before we had our son, we heard that we should travel as much as we can before we have kids. We actually heard this so much that I started to push back a little in my mind. Why does it have to be so hard? If parenthood is hard at home, why not add a beautiful backdrop and some delicious food to make it a little easier? So we started traveling as a family when our son was 6 months old!

After family travel for several years, we started hearing people tell us to get all of our travels in now because we wouldn’t be able to once we have our second child. Although secondary infertility has put a hold on our second child, we are so excited to travel just as much with our two kids!

My message to you is that if you love traveling do it! If you think you do, try it! Take the leap and create memories with your kids, whether you are taking local trips or longer ones. Being together as a family will bring you closer together.

And if you need any help taking these leaps of family travel into new places with new baby, toddler, and young child phases, let me help! Think fun destinations, travel tips for real families, even how to get budget and utilize credit card bonuses to get you to places you’ve dreamed of! Bringing the World to Your Living Room (and vice versa)

Adventure wasn’t really a choice, it was practically in our veins! My first passport stamp came at the young age of seven, and from then on, my family thrived on traveling together every few years, from Peru, to England, to Alaska, and plenty of road trips in between. I thought my traveling days were over when I went to college until I found the best study abroad in my (totally biased) opinion. A 30-day whirlwind study abroad through 11 European countries. And in true Sid fashion, I signed up for it 5 months late and only 2 months before it started.

To the person who dropped out and opened a spot for me to go on this incredible study abroad, I’m so sorry and I’m so thankful.

That study abroad left me exhilarated and, although slightly bankrupt, it ignited a passion – the world was out there, just waiting to be explored.

When Josh and I got married, travel wasn’t exactly at the top of our priority list because, well, newlyweds. Life had other plans, though. Six months in, with Josh in his final college semester, I got laid off! In true “make lemonade” fashion, I dusted off my passion for photography and videography. Turns out, twisting my arm wasn’t necessary – I loved capturing stories through a lens. Although that career path veered in a different direction, it equipped us with invaluable business and creative skills that became our trusty travel companions.

Then came Ollie, our adventurous bundle of joy. He inherited the travel bug – not surprising, considering we took him on his first trip at 6 months old!

Now, the three of us are a mostly well-oiled family travel machine, exploring North America by land, air, and sea. From scaling ancient ruins in Mexico to trekking through the emerald Pacific Northwest, we’re on a mission to share our love of travel and the beauty of cultures with our little explorer.

A MESSAGE TO YOU

This family travel blog isn’t just about us. It’s about YOU. We understand the anxieties, the excitement, the budgeting, and the endless questions that come with traveling with kids (or without!). We’re here to share our experiences, tips, and maybe even a few mishaps (because let’s be honest, they’re half the fun!), to hopefully inspire you to embark on your own adventures, big or small.

Think of us as your travel buddies, cheering you on from the sidelines. We’ll share packing hacks that even the most seasoned traveler might have missed, dish on hidden gems (because who doesn’t love a secret?), help you budget for trips like a pro, and provide real, honest reviews of destinations, activities, and even the occasional kid-friendly meal that won’t leave you reaching for earplugs.

So, buckle up (or unbuckle, if you’re already on a plane), and join us on this amazing journey! We’ll document the epic wins, the hilarious fails, and everything in between. Because at the end of the day, travel isn’t just about ticking destinations off a list – it’s about creating memories, collecting experiences, and expanding your horizons, one adventure at a time. Ready to join the Simply Sid & Co. crew? Dive into our blog, ask us anything, and share your own travel stories! We’re excited to explore the world with you, virtually or in person – wherever the adventure takes us!
