Astoria Restaurants on the Water

I will be honest, coming from a landlocked state like Utah, I wanted to make sure that I got all of the views I could get when we were in Astoria. Although Astoria is not on the ocean, the Columbia River feeds right into it and it’s as close as one can get! So before we even talk about all of the amazing restaurants in Astoria, Oregon that we would recommend, let’s talk about which Astoria restaurants are on the water!

Best Restaurants in Astoria, Oregon

Ok, I am so excited to talk about all of these places to eat in Astoria, Oregon! Some of them are so quirky and delicious and others are just plain delicious and delicious. I can’t wait for you to try some of these (or all of these??) on your next trip to Astoria!

Fort George Brewery

Lunch and Dinner

Website

Let’s start with Fort George Brewery! When it comes to restaurants in Astoria, this one is in an old tire factory which gives it such a cool vibe. Not to mention the outdoor seating and rooftop seating. Being a brewery, they do sell beer. We don’t drink it though, so I can’t vouch for the beer here (although I’ve heard it tastes delicious), but I can vouch for the food. It’s so good! Fort George Brewery is also family-friendly which is nice. There are two floors to this restaurant in Astoria that serve different things, so keep that in mind! The upstairs serves wood-fired pizza and has table service and accepts reservations while the downstairs serves pub food and you order and pay at the bar.

  • The Fort Burger (Downstairs)
  • Big Truck (Downstairs)
  • Armadillo (Downstairs)
  • Albacore Fish & Chips (Downstairs)

I don’t know what it is about repurposing old buildings and turning them into cool restaurants, but I’m here for it. Like Fort George Brewery, Buoy Beer Company has taken home in an old cannery, giving it a really cool atmosphere. Although there is not a large menu, the food is so good here! We didn’t try the beer, but I’ve heard that it is delicious as well. As far as restaurants in Astoria go, Buoy Beer Company is one you should add to your list.

What to Get at Buoy Beer Company

  • Buoy Clam Chowder
  • House Salad
  • Albacore Tuna Sandwich
  • Rockfish and Chips
  • Chicken Sandwich
  • Cheddar Cheese Curds
  • Willapa Bay Oyster Shooters

Bowpicker Fish and Chips

Lunch and Dinner

Website

Ok, so I mentioned that the Buoy Beer Company has a limited menu, but not nearly as limited as the Bowpicker Fish and Chips. They only sell one thing: fish and chips. But they do it SO WELL. The Bowpicker Fish and Chips has a converted boat that they park across from the Columbia Maritime Museum, which is pretty cool in and of itself. Even though they only sell fish and chips, they will sometimes have an hour’s wait or more for their food! That is how good it is. Bring cash though because they don’t take credit or debit cards.

Coffee Girl

The Coffee Girl is this really cute coffee house on the Columbia River near the Bumble Bee Canning Factory. We aren’t coffee drinkers but we sure love baked goods and we were not disappointed! There was a little bit of a line when we got there, which must mean it’s good, right? Their menu changes often so some of my recommendations may not be available when you go, unfortunately.

What to get at Coffee Girl

  • Breakfast Bagel
  • Grilled Panini Sandwich
  • Quiche of the Day
  • Banana Bread

By far, one of our favorite restaurants in Astoria, Oregon, is the Bridgewater Bistro. The food is outstanding, with plenty of gluten and dairy-free options, it is very family-friendly, and the atmosphere is so cozy! Bridgewater Bistro has both indoor and very weather-friendly outdoor seating right on the pier. It can be hard to pick where to sit between the cozy fire and piano music inside or the pier with weather-proof tents outside. It is a bit spendy though, so if you want to try the Bridgewater Bistro, lunch will be a little more affordable.
