Disneyland Rides for Toddlers with No Height Requirements

Going to Disneyland with a toddler doesn’t have to keep you from riding some fun rides! Here is a detailed breakdown of all of the Disneyland rides for toddlers that you can all enjoy!

Let’s talk about Disneyland rides for toddlers. Contrary to popular belief, there are actually so many rides that toddlers can ride at Disneyland and California Adventures. I think Walt Disney designed it that way because when we went to Universal Studios, that was a whole different story.

But I digress.

Disneyland rides with no height requirement. I’m back. There are so many! In this post, I will walk you through each Disneyland ride that toddlers can go on and what to expect! I am also going to add the height requirements for all of the other rides just in case. Who knows, there may be some that your little toddlers are already tall enough for!

What rides have height requirements at Disneyland?

Here are all of the rides at Disneyland that do have height requirements. For the big kids, of course!

Autopia – 32” or taller and with another rider 54” or taller
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad – 40” or taller
Hyperspace Mountain – 40” or taller
Indiana Jones – 46” or taller
Matterhorn Bobsleds – 42” or taller

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run – 38” or taller
Splash Mountain – 40” or taller (closed for re-theme)
Star Tours – The Adventures Continue – 40” or taller

Disneyland Rides with No Height Requirements

Now let’s break down the rides with no height requirements! I will put a star (*) next to all of the Disneyland rides for toddlers. Just because there is no height requirement, doesn’t mean they will love it! There are definitely some that are not exactly geared toward a toddler that you may want to skip.

*Alice in Wonderland – Fantasyland

Such a cute ride! Even though Ollie hasn’t seen the movie, the ride is perfect for him.

*Astro Orbitor – Tomorrowland

If you’ve been to Tomorrowland, then you can’t miss the Astro Orbitor as you walk in! It is the first ride you see and one of the great Disneyland rides for toddlers. You can comfortably fit one adult and one child on each ship. I’ve seen two adults in some too so it’s possible! On the ride, you can control your ship’s up-and-down movements which is amazing for a little kid. The wait time for this one isn’t typically too long and the line is shaded for the most part.

*Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters – Tomorrowland

This one is similar to Toy Story Mania in California Adventures, but it’s more focused on Buzz and Zurg. Each car only has two laser guns for the two riders and you basically just compete against each other during the ride as you shoot the targets all along your path. It’s super fun! The line can get long, so going in the mornings and evenings is typically best. Most of your line time is inside and themed though which is nice and because the ride is interactive, it makes it worth it.

*Casey Jr. Circus Train – Fantasyland

If you want a nice train ride through Storybook Land in Fantasyland, the Casey Jr Circus is another of the great Disneyland rides for toddlers! It’s a fun little train ride that allows you to see all of the fun things they have created in Storybook Land to pay homage to the OG Disney stories. The line averages about 20 minutes throughout the day which is nice.

Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes

If you’ve ever seen people canoeing at Disneyland, this is how they did it! It’s actually a ride! When it’s your turn to ride, you are handed an oar and you take your seat. You can fit two people in each row (otherwise the third person in the middle can’t row!). You basically just go around Tom Sawyer Island in the middle. It does allow you to see a different side of Disneyland which is pretty cool! There usually isn’t a huge wait (if any) for this ride.

*Disneyland Monorail (to and from Downtown Disney)

If you are trying to get to Downtown Disney and don’t want to walk (let’s be honest, we’ve all been there), taking the Monorail is always a great idea! We have only ridden it once because it usually seems to be broken, but if it’s running when you go, this is a great way to rest as you head to Downtown Disney.

Wait Times – 5-15 minutes

*Disneyland Railroad (within Disneyland)

If you want to just take a ride around the park, this is such a great way to do it! There are four different stations right inside the main gate, the outside of New Orleans Square, Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland. There are usually lines to get on the train so you could wait up to 30 minutes for your turn. If you wanted though, you could take this all the way around the park for a nice break and some nice views.

*Dumbo the Flying Elephant – Fantasyland

Most kids I know haven’t watched Dumbo, but the ride is still one of the perfect Disneyland rides for toddlers! I mean, it’s flying elephants! You can fit two adults and one child comfortably in each elephant and you can control your height with the little lever inside. The wait time for this one can be pretty long throughout the day – around 30 minutes on average.

Haunted Mansion – New Orleans Square

The Haunted Mansion can get a little spooky for kids, but it’s not too bad overall! It’s more of a fun spooky. You can fit three people comfortably in the doom buggies. The wait times can get pretty long so I would recommend doing this one early in the day or at night.

*“it’s a small world” – Fantasyland

Beware, the song will get stuck in your head. Ha! It’s a Small World is probably one of the most iconic Disneyland rides for toddlers! And the ride is perfect for a warm day because it is all indoors. I love this one and highly recommend it for the kids. You can typically fit three to four people in each row on the boat. The wait times aren’t too long either and there are umbrellas throughout the line to help with the sun.

*Jungle Cruise – Adventureland

You’ve seen the movie, and now you can ride the ride with your whole family, especially because of how great it is among the Disneyland rides for toddlers! This is such a fun one to go on and just relax and laugh at a good dad joke. Your kids will love being able to see the animals. This one can have a long wait, especially if Indiana Jones or Pirates closes down, so keep an eye on this one.

Ride Capacity – 30 people per boat
Wait Times – Average of 40 minutes throughout the day

*King Arthur Carrousel – Fantasyland

The carousel is such a great way to get your toddlers out of the hot sun and on a ride. This one doesn’t usually have a super long wait either! Most horses have a strap that you can use to secure your little toddler so they don’t fall off which is really helpful. If you are near the front of the line, you may even be able to get Walt Disney’s favorite horse, Jingles! The carousel is in Fantasyland so it does close while they do fireworks.

Ride Capacity – 68 horses and 1 bench available

*Mad Tea Party – Fantasyland

You might also have heard the Mad Tea Party called the “teacups”. There usually isn’t a super long wait for these either which is nice. The Alice in Wonderland theme is great and you can spin these tea cups as fast as you want (or not at all!). You can comfortably fit two adults and one or two kids in each teacup.

*Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh – Critter Country

Even if your toddlers haven’t seen Winnie the Pooh, the ride is among the best Disneyland rides for toddlers! You ride in little honey pots and get to see sweet Winnie the Pooh and all his friends. Also, if you look closely, you can see the moose mounted on the wall from the old Country Bears ride. You can fit two adults and one child in each row easily. If you have a small child, I would recommend putting them on your lap so they can see what is happening. The wait is usually pretty short, around 15 minutes tops, and mostly shaded.

Mark Twain Riverboat – Frontierland

If you’ve wanted to ride the big fancy boat that makes its way around Tom Sawyer Island, this is how you do it! There is usually a short wait to go there and back. You can get in line in Frontierland just before you get to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. The ride usually lasts 14 minutes and is a good time to just relax and see Disney from a new perspective, especially from the observation deck. There is also some good shade on the boat too!

Wait Times – Average of 5-10 minutes throughout the day

Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride – Fantasyland

We love this one! The line is pretty much shaded for most of the day and it’s not a long wait typically. It is a little bit spooky for young kids. You can comfortably sit two people in each row.

*Peter Pan’s Flight – Fantasyland

This is one of the most popular Disneyland rides for toddlers in Fantasyland and it’s no surprise why! You ride in little boats that make you feel like you are flying! You can fit two adults and one child in each boat easily. The wait times are long on this one and in the middle of the day until the sun starts to set, most of the line is in full sun. It’s a little rough so I would recommend doing this one in the morning or evening once the sun has set.

*Pinocchio’s Daring Journey – Fantasyland

This is another really cute one that your toddlers will love. There are some spooky parts in this one, but not too many. Overall, it’s a pretty fun ride. The ride capacity for Pinocchio’s Daring Journey is two adults per row for a total of four people per cart. This is another with pretty short wait times throughout the day too!

Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island – Frontierland

Explore Tom Sawyer’s island! You can get through on a log raft (virtually no wait) just next to where you board the Mark Twain Riverboat and explore all that Tom Sawyer’s island has to offer, including Smuggler’s Cove and Dead Man’s Grotto. It’s a fun time and is perfect for toddlers. They are able to run around and explore at their own pace away from the hustle and bustle of Disneyland. It’s not open all day though, so make sure to check the hours.

*Pirates of the Caribbean – New Orleans Square

This is our first ride whenever we go to Disneyland. It’s tradition! It’s such a great ride and one of the best Disneyland rides for toddlers! And it can definitely help you cool off during hot days. The ride capacity for Pirates of the Caribbean is four adults per bench and there are five benches per boat. The wait times fluctuate pretty drastically and can range from 15 minutes to 45 minutes. However, even if you have a long wait time, the line is continuously moving which is nice.

Sailing Ship Columbia – Frontierland

This is another great way to travel around Tom Sawyer’s island! You can board this boat in Frontierland and take the same path around the lake as you do with the Mark Twain Riverboat and the Canoes. It’s a great time as you explore all that the ship has to offer, especially a little museum below deck with a cannon!

*Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough – Fantasyland

This isn’t a ride, but it is a fun walk-through that allows you and your kids to walk through the castle as you read the story of Sleeping Beauty. It’s a good way to cool off (although there are still stairs) and see the story told in a way you’ve never seen before. Unless you’ve already done the walkthrough. Then you already have seen it.

*Snow White’s Enchanted Wish – Fantasyland

This is another great ride in Fantasyland. The ride tells the story of Snow White so there are some spooky things in it. Two adults can fit in each row and there are two rows per log vehicle. The wait times vary between 20-30 minutes throughout the day.

*Storybook Land Canal Boats – Fantasyland

We love the Storybook Land Canal Boats! They are so cute and so fun. If you don’t know, Storybook Land is a miniature land with all of the Storybook fairytales built out. But mini. I love a good miniature. The canal boats take you throughout the land and point out all of the stories that have been built. Super fun!

Seating Capacity – 12-15 people per boat

*Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room – Adventureland

A Dole Whip and the Tiki Room. Is there anything more Disney? Probably. We love the Tiki Room though! It’s such a fun show of singing birds in a nice, cool room. It’s super great for kids especially!
