 Things to Do in CocoCay

Let’s talk about all there is to do in Cococay! CocoCay is split up into six different areas. There are both paid and complimentary things to do in most areas, with the exception of the Thrill Waterpark and the CocoCay Beach Club, which both require an admission ticket to get in.

For the things that cost an additional fee, I will put an ($) next to those things to help you out. Since the price changes based on demand, there will be a range.

To also help you get your bearings, I will work my way into the island. Let’s do this!

If you want to book a CocoCay cruise with Royal Caribbean, click HERE.

Arrivals Plaza

As you make your way onto the island, there are a few attractions that don’t quite have a homeland. Let’s talk about those!

Captain Jill’s Galleon (Free)

This fun little pirate ship is a great place for young kids to play! There are several water cannons and slides for them to have fun at.

($) Grab Some Food at Captain Jack’s

Right across from Captain Jill’s Galleon is Captain Jack’s. They have some delicious food with plenty of options for parents and kids. However, the food at Captain Jack’s is not complimentary.

Splashaway Bay (Free)

Just beyond Captain Jack’s is Splashaway Bay. This is like a kid-sized water park! It’s such a great place for kids to play in and get all of the water-playing they could ever want. There are even small waterslides for them to go down!

Water slides have a 36” minimum height requirement.

Cost

Starting at $400 per cabana for up to 6 guests and includes water park admission.

Skipper’s Grill (Free)

Another complimentary restaurant, Skipper’s Grill is perfectly positioned at the center of the island, between Harbor Beach and Splashaway Bay. Great food like BBQ, burgers, and tacos. The menu is the same as the Chill Grill, so you don’t have to worry about missing out!

Harbor Beach (Free)

If you head out back to the Arrivals Plaza, just to the left (or east) of Splashaway Bay, you will see Harbor Beach. If you are looking for a chill and calm beach to relax by, this is a great choice! The waves are basically non-existent, making it a great place to hang out, especially with kids.

Oasis Lagoon (Free)

Just beyond Harbor Beach and Splashaway Bay is Oasis Lagoon.

Swim in the Freshwater Pool (Free)

Oh, you think swimming in a freshwater pool sounds cool? What if I told you it was the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean? So much cooler right? What about if I told you that there were underwater speakers so you could hear the music UNDER the water as well as above? Gurl. This is the party pool for sure! There is even a sloping entry for kids to enjoy and small islands throughout the pool for them to swim to. The deepest part of the pool is only 4’ 5” deep so that makes it very kid-friendly!

Grab a Drink from the Swim-Up Bar

If you don’t want to get out of the water but need a drink, you don’t have to! You can just swim over to the swim-up bar and get a drink and relax, without needing to get out of the water!

Lounge in an In-Water Lounger (Free)

With a surplus of in-water loungers on the edges of the Oasis Lagoon, you are sure to get a good spot to lounge in the water.

Once you work up an appetite, the Snack Shack is close by and ready with plenty of food to keep you going for the rest of the day!

Cost

Starting at $400 for up to 8 people

($) Up, Up and Away

Right across the path from the Oasis Lagoon, you will see Up, Up, and Away. Up, Up and Away is Royal Caribbean’s hot air balloon ride that takes you over the island and allows you some pretty amazing panoramic views. The ride lasts about 10 minutes and goes over 400 ft into the sky on a helium air balloon! It’s really amazing!

Cost

Rides start at $50 per person

Chill Island (Free)

Just beyond the Oasis Lagoon and Harbor Beach is Chill Island. One of the largest zones in CocoCay, Chill Island is… chill. The north side is a cozy area with plenty of seating for you to relax. By taking a left at the Arrivals Plaza, you can get to the north side of Chill Island. Don’t let the name fool you though. Yes, it’s chill. Yes, there is still a lot to do for the adventurous soul on the South side!

Grab a Beach Chair at Chill Island (Free)

From what I noticed if grabbing a beach chair at Chill Island is on your list of things to do in CocoCay, there are plenty of beach chairs available, so you may not need to worry about getting there super early!

Eat at Chill Grill (Free)

Want to know another great reason to spend your day at Chill Island? You don’t have to leave to get food. The complimentary Chill Grill serves up some delicious food to keep you going for the day, from tacos to BBQ, to burgers. And dessert, of course!

($) Enjoy Some Water Activities

At Chill Island, you have the option to rent snorkeling gear, rent a paddleboard, go on a jet ski tour or just take one out for a spin. With these options at your fingertips, I don’t see how you would want to leave Chill Island! Especially when there is a sunken airplane to explore.

Cost

Jetskis – Rentals starting at $100

Paddleboards – Rentals starting at $25

($) Coco Beach Club

As you head straight back to the other side of the island, you will hit the Coco Beach Club. Coco Beach Club was probably one of my favorite places to visit with some great things to do in CocoCay! The food, the limited number of people allowed in (around 100), the exclusive beach, and the cabanas were all too good! There is also no age limit, so you can bring the whole family!

Cost

The entry fee starts at $150

Eat at the Coco Beach Club restaurant

Included in the price of your entrance ticket into the Coco Beach Club is the restaurant.  you might be wondering why this is worth it. Let me tell you why. Filet mignon. Lobster. These are just some of the dishes that you can have at the restaurant in the Cocoa Beach Club. Oh and so many treats and desserts.

Swim in the Infinity Pool

Sure, it’s just another pool. However, that pool truly makes you feel like you are up close and personal with the ocean. The infinity design makes this pool so amazing! That’s not to mention the in-water loungers that you can relax in.

Snorkel/Swim in the Ocean

Don’t worry about bringing your snorkeling equipment! You can rent snorkeling gear at the Coco Beach Club and explore the ocean. If you don’t want to do that, you can also grab a complimentary ocean mat to lounge on. If you’ve rented a cabana, your snorkeling rental is included.

Lounge by the Ocean

Although biased, I think that the lounge chairs at Coco Beach Club are some of the comfiest. Also, you get premium towels, so that’s pretty cool!

($) Rent a Cabana on the Beach or an Overwater Cabana

In addition to renting Cabanas on the beach, you can also rent an Overwater Cabana. They have a slide into the ocean, an overwater hammock, and even a freshwater shower to help you get cleaned up after a day of something in the ocean. And if you’re worried about having to make the long trek from your Cabana to the restaurant for food, all of the Cabanas in the Coco Beach Club come with it your own attendant. These attendants will bring you anything that your heart desires! It’s really an experience unlike any other.

Cost

Cabanas start at $900 for up to 8 people (complimentary Coco Beach Club entrance included)

Overwater cabanas start at $1200 for up to 8 people (complimentary Coco Beach Club entrance included)

South Beach (Free)

Just to the west (or the right if you are looking at the Coco Beach Club) is South Beach. South Beach is probably one of the areas with the most versatile things to do in Coco Cay. Let’s talk about all there is to do!

Play at the Sports Court (Free)

If you want to play some basketball or some sand volleyball, this is a great place to come!

($) Enjoy Some Water Activities

Whether you want to explore the reefs under the ocean or want to look at the ocean from above by paddleboarding or if you just want to swim in the ocean, all of that is available at South Beach.

No need to leave South Beach if you are feeling hungry! This complimentary Snack Shack serves food all throughout the day from mozzarella sticks and burgers to some brownies and cookies. All the staples!
