Slowing Down
The last couple of months have been insane. We moved into a new home and ever since then, it feels like life has been one rollercoaster after another. Between house projects, trying to balance working and raising Oliver, and trying to keep our sanity with all that is happening in our lives and the world, it has just felt like if the rug is being pulled from under us repeatedly just as we’re getting back on our feet. To take a much needed break, we decided that slowing down would help to the lake.
We went to Strawberry Reservoir originally to do a crawdad cookout with my in-laws scuba diving shop, North American Divers. However, lunch was a little later and it was colder than expected, so even though we didn’t eat lunch with them, we were able to hang out around the lake, throw a lot of rocks into the water, and fish a little. We were a little disappointed that the reason we went up there for did not pan out (another rug??), but then I made this video. As we watched it later that week, Josh and I both realized how much we needed that. We needed to slow down. We needed that good thing to come from yet another disappointment.
So here I am, getting on my little soapbox to give you the permission you need to take time for yourself. To slow down. To recenter yourself and your desires and hopes and dreams. Life can feel crazy, but it is also sooo beautiful. And it is waiting for you to embrace it and make it yours. Don’t let the number of rugs that get pulled from under you keep you down. You can get it up and change things. You can do all the hard things that have been scaring you. Be amazing. Be you.
